GATE 2026 Notification and Important Dates

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 notification has been released by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), the organizing institute for GATE 2026.

Key Dates:

• Official Website Launch: The official website for GATE 2026, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, was launched on August 5, 2025.

• Online Application Process Starts: August 25, 2025.

• Last Date for Regular Online Registration (Without Late Fee): September 25, 2025.

• Last Date for Extended Online Registration (With Late Fee): October 6, 2025.

• GATE 2026 Exam Dates: February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.

Important Information:

• Organizing Body: IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 examination.

• Purpose: GATE is a national-level exam for admission to M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D programs in top institutions like IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, and also for recruitment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

• Application Mode: The application process is entirely online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal.

• Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have completed or be in their 3rd year or higher of a bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities. There is no age limit for GATE.

• Number of Subjects: The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted for 30 different subject papers.

• Exam Pattern: The exam will be a computer-based test (CBT) with multiple-choice questions (MCQ), multiple-select questions (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions.

• Score Validity: The GATE 2026 scorecard will be valid for three years from the date of result declaration (up to March 2029).
